How to Create a Query in Microsoft Access 2010 to Find Duplicate Entries in a Table
It would be annoying for you to deal with duplicate data in an Access 2010 database. It is a very hectic job to deal with duplicate values. However, with Access 2010 you can identify duplicate values and handle them quite easily.
Although, there might be many reasons behind duplicate values. For example, many users simultaneously updating or you are entering data using sort of linked tables or you might be inserting records from a table that contains duplicate values. Therefore, how to deal with duplicate records in Access 2010?
Here you will learn how to create a query in Microsoft Access 2010 to find duplicate entries in a Table.
1)You need to open the Access database file with the .accdb extension. The Access database file contains the table in which you want to check the duplicate values or records. Then click on the Create tab and after that you can click on Query Wizard as shown in below screen shot.
2)You will see the dialog box for New Query. Select the Find Duplicates Query Wizard and press the OK button as shown in below screen image.
3)Now select the table in which you want to check duplicate values. However, you have the option to choose either tables or queries in order to check duplicate values. Here in this particular example, we are using an existing table to find out duplicate values. But the thing is that, this is an efficient and a handy tool to use in other circumstances as well. Once you have selected the desired table, click on the NEXT button in order to continue further.
4) Now you need to select the field from the selected table, where you want to check duplicate data. We have selected the field, as shown in below screen image. Then click on the NEXT button in order to complete the find Duplicates Query Wizard.
5) You can assign a name of your choice to the query as shown in below screen shot. Then click on the FINISH button. However, as shown in below screen image, you have the options to view the results or modify the design. Here we have selected View the results, as shown in screen image. After you have clicked on the FINISH button, Access 2010 will run the query and shows you the result of the query. In addition, you can find the query saved in the query section of Access 2010 database. Below find screen shot of query section as well.
6) It is all depending upon data in the table you have selected in order to find duplicate values. We are showing you two types of results in below screen shots, where there is no duplicate value found in the table and the other one is showing that duplicate values found in the table.
