Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is an urban based private institute founded in 1861, with the campus area of 168 acres. They have employed 4-1-4 calendar system and tuition fees for the year 2011-2012 are $ 40,732/-. MIT is situated in Massachusetts Cambridge near to Charles River, and nearly 70% students stay on campus because they provide the hostel facility as well throughout the year. One of the most talked about feature of MIT is its dorms called “The Sponge” which are considered the coolest in the whole U.S.   Main emphasis of MIT is on science and technology, in the year 2009 their research budget exceeded $700 million. Their graduated includes Mr. Kofi Annan, astronaut Buzz Aldrin, and Ben Bernanke chairman of Federal Reserve Bank.

Application fee is $ 75, and acceptance rate of this university is 10%. Faculty-student ratio is 1:8. Nearly 62.6% classes have less than 20 students, 24.5% have 20-49 students and 12.9% classes have 50 or more students.
